Introduction

CatalogFix ("we", "our", "us") is a Shopify app that generates AI-powered product content. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What Data We Collect

Data from Shopify

When you install CatalogFix, we access the following through the Shopify API:

• Product data: Product titles, descriptions, SEO fields, tags, images, variants, and vendor information. Used to generate content and scan for content gaps.
• Store information: Your store domain and access token. Used to authenticate API requests and identify your account.

We do not access or store:

• Customer data (names, emails, addresses, payment info)
• Order data
• Financial data
• Staff account data beyond what Shopify provides during authentication

Data we create and store

• Generated content: AI-generated descriptions, SEO meta, tags, and alt text for your products. Stored so you can review, edit, and publish at any time.
• Content versions: Snapshots of your product content before publishing, so you can revert changes.
• Catalog health scans: Aggregated counts of content issues (e.g., "12 products missing descriptions"). No product content is stored in scan results.
• Usage records: Monthly count of products published, used to enforce plan limits.
• Brand voice preference: Your selected writing tone (e.g., "Professional"), if set.

Session data

We store Shopify session tokens to authenticate your requests. These are managed by Shopify's session storage system.

How We Use Your Data

• Generate content: Product data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate descriptions, SEO meta, tags, and image alt text. Product images are sent to Claude's vision API for alt text generation.
• Scan for content gaps: Product data is analyzed to identify missing or weak content fields.
• Publish content: Generated content is written back to your Shopify store via the Admin API.
• Track usage: We count monthly publishes to enforce plan limits.

We do not:

• Sell your data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising
• Share your product data with other merchants
• Train AI models on your data

Third-Party Services

Anthropic (Claude API)

Product data (titles, descriptions, images) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for content generation. Anthropic's data usage policy applies: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy

Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.

Shopify

We use the Shopify Admin API to read and write product data. Shopify's privacy policy applies: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy

Railway (Hosting)

Our application is hosted on Railway. Railway's privacy policy applies: https://railway.app/legal/privacy

Data Retention

• Generated content and versions: Retained as long as your app is installed. Deleted when you uninstall.
• Session data: Managed by Shopify. Deleted when you uninstall.
• Usage records: Retained for billing purposes. Deleted when you uninstall.

Data Deletion

When you uninstall CatalogFix:

• All generated content, versions, scan results, and usage records associated with your store are deleted.
• Your Shopify session is invalidated.
• No data is retained after uninstallation.

You can also request data deletion at any time by contacting us.

GDPR Compliance

We handle the following Shopify GDPR webhooks:

• Customer data request: We do not store customer data, so no data is returned.
• Customer data deletion: We do not store customer data, so no action is needed.
• Shop data deletion: All data associated with your store is deleted.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of all data we store about your store
• Request deletion of your data
• Uninstall the app at any time, which triggers automatic data deletion

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app.
